The Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM), founded in 1922, is the world governing body for Powerboating, fully recognized as such by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The UIM governs all Powerboating disciplines and acknowledges that every activity be it large or small conducted on water can make a difference in the fight against climate change. The UIM is committed to promoting environmentally friendly practices which we hope will help to contribute towards solving some of the environmental challenges of today particularly those involving the decline in biodiversity to the
unsustainable use of energy resources. In order to inspire and recognize excellence in innovation, development and application of environmentally friendly technologies the UIM is delighted to launch the “2011 UIM Environmental Award”. UIM National Authorities, partners, racing teams, boat builders, engine manufacturers, universities, research centers, scientists, Non Governmental Organizations (NGO’s), companies and individuals are all eligible for the 2011 UIM Environmental Award. This new award recognizes outstanding environmental leaders, whether individuals or organizations, that have exemplified inspiration, vision, innovation, leadership and applications for the Environment. The Award can be won through positive and proven actions in favor of the protection of the environment which lead to a smaller environmental footprint in all types of motor boating activities.The 2011 UIM Environmental Award Trophy will be given at the UIM Award Ceremony which will be held at the prestigious Salle des Etoiles in Monte-Carlo on the 11th of February 2012.
