UIM AWARDS GIVING GALA 2010





The 2011 UIM Awards Giving Gala held at the impressive Salle des Etoiles in Monaco was a real success! Over 400 guests from 30 different nations attended the Ceremony where 90 racers (55 World Championship titles) were honoured. The Ceremony was preceded by a press conference held at the Hotel de Paris where the UIM Environmental Awards Winner and UIM Special Mentions were presented to the International Press. At the same Conference the UIM President Dr. Raffaele Chiulli illustrated the main achievements of the last season and, along with the UIM contracted promoters H2O Racing Powerboat Promotion and International Sea Racing, the plans for 2011. The UIM also outlined the very fruitful meeting with the other leading International Motorsport Federations FIA, FIM, FAI and IWWF held on the same day and which reinforced the cooperation on Environment and Alternative Energies. Among the guests at the Award Giving Gala H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Theodore Oben of United Nations Environment Program, the 3 times Motorcycling World Champion Loris Capirossi, the Presidents of several International Sport Federation and key governmental officers from different part of the World. The gala was the occasion to give the UIM Environmental Awards, which contributed to further strengthening the cooperation and synergies between the boatyard industry and competitive powerboating, and the Stefano Casiraghi Memorial Trophy which has been awarded to Vincenzo Iaconianni, President of FIM, for his remarkable contribution to powerboating. President Chiulli concluding his speech at the Awards Giving stated: “Sport is a fantastic medium to break barriers and bring people together and this event has done exactly this – make our family bigger. Our family has new challenges before us but we have set a clear path for further strengthening and building on the success of our sport and of our family. At this moment we need action, we need commitment, we need unity and all because in this lovely Principality of Monaco we are and we will be one big successful family”.
